The Old Dominion Chapter of the NRHS was founded in 1948, as the Old Dominion Railroad Club. The club received its charter in the National Railway Historical Society in 1957.
The Old Dominion Railway Museum is housed in railroad cars next to the former Southern Railway passenger station at First and Hull Streets in South Richmond.
It is open to the public on Saturdays from 11 AM to 4 pm, and Sundays from 1 pm to 4 pm. Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted.
The Chapter operates short line diesel-powered trips featuring coaches and open-air cars on the Buckingham Branch Railroad.
