Daniel Boone

The series was set in the 1770s, just before and during the American Revolution, and mostly centered on adventures in and around Boonesborough, Kentucky. Daniel Boone was played by Fess Parker, his wife Rebecca by Patricia Blair. Ed Ames played his American Indian friend Mingo.

Season 2, Episode 13: "The Perilous Journey" (December 16, 1965)

Steve gets to do a British accent in this episode. He plays Tyler, a British sheriff who, with his associate Stone (John Orchard) are tasked with stopping a courier from making it to Daniel Boone, who has left on his honeymoon. They manage to kill the courier, but he lives long enough to pass a document to Boone and tell him what needs to be done with it. Steve and co. follow Boone, via his wife, to New Orleans.

Steve as Tyler and John Orchard as Stone lie in wait for Captain Grant (Stacy Harris).

The good Captain rides too fast, however, and they chase along behind him.

Captain Grant has caught up with Boone at an inn, but Tyler and co. have caught up with him.
They shoot him through a window, but before they can grab the body,
Boone and the inkeeper come in.

Tyler is upset that they couldn't grab the body. If the courier lived
long enough to tell Boone a message....

Tyler gives Stone advice on how to follow orders.

Perhaps they will need to kill Daniel Boone. (He's holding out his pistol.)

Time to rest.

Tyler and Stone stop the carriage, but it contains only Mrs. Boone.
Daniel has left a note for his wife, and ridden on ahead to New Orleans.

They decide to ride in the coach. Where Mrs. Boone goes, there eventually
Daniel Boone will be.
(They have said they were looking for an escaped convict, so the driver
and Mrs. Boone have no suspicions of them.)

Tyler introduces himself to Mrs. Boone.

Tyler exercises all his charm.

At the hotel in New Orleans, no one named Boone is registered. Rebecca sees
Boone on the stairs, but the hotelier claims he's registered under a different name.

Tyler directs a sympathetic look at the hotelier.

Tyler comes to Mrs. Boone's room to take her captive, so that her husband will do what they say.

Making up a story

Caught in a lie

"Come peacefully."

Amused at her spunkiness.

Mrs. Boone refuses to go, and pulls a gun she had had hidden in her voluminous skirts.

Tyler is amused. He doesn't believe the frail woman would have the nerve to shoot him.

"Take another step and find out."
He takes another step.

"You shot me!"

"Bitch!"
No, he doesn't say it, but you know he's thinking it.
