Minns senses he's being watched.
He enters his room, though he knows Ballard and Harris are within
Minns looks down at those individuals who are staking out the apartment.
He tries a smile, Ballard knows it comes from an exterior intelligence.
"I can't fight it, any more than you can fight me."
Ballard wants Minns to come with them. "We're going to stop this project."
"This project will never die."
Minns takes a sheet off a tablet in the desk (which Ballard has previously seen.
Then he starts to walk out.
"Don't look at us, or we'll shoot. Don't go out that door, or we'll shoot."
"I don't want anyone hurt."
Minns continues to walk out. Harris shoots, to no effect.
Harris and Ballard duck as the two detectives shoot, to no effect.
Minns looks back at Ballard and Harris, then just walks away.
Minns goes looking for his quarry - more handicapped children.
The real Minns is crying. At this point he doesn't know why he's taking the children.
The last child gets in, and off they go.
The children and Minns enter the hangar.
Ballard begs the other three men to fight their mind-control and turn off the forcefield.
Who knows what experiments the children will be subject to?
Minns helps the children enter the spaceship. "Learn to help each other."
Minns' three cohorts are affected by Ballard's impassioned plea.
They begin to argue with Minns about what will happen to them and the children.
"This project has reached a crossroads..."
Pictures begin to form in Minn's mind. The aliens are telling him their plam.
He explains. The children are not to be experimented on. They are
being taken to a new planet, where they will be healed. Indeed
the special air in the spaceship has healed them already.
Minns tells his cohorts to turn off the forcefield. He invites
Ballard and Harris to go inside and look around.
Ballard and Harris exit the spaceship, after seeing the now healed children.
They are stunned.
Minns and the three men are given a choice. They all elect to accompany the children to the new planet.
